The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a crucial role in Medical Affairs at Bausch Health, being part of an exclusive field-based team of medical scientific experts that engages with external experts (key opinion leaders) and population-based healthcare decision makers including regional payors. Thus, the MSL has significant responsibility and is expected to provide in-depth scientific, clinical, and educational support to external experts, as well as to internal clinical, sales, marketing, and market access teams. In addition, the MSL provides scientific insights back to Medical Affairs management.
This specific MSL position should be based in an area that complements the existing team. Possible sites are to be determined.
The MSL should have an in-depth understanding of areas related to Gastroenterology to support both approved and pipeline compounds. The MSL may be responsible for covering multiple products and engaging in broad scientific discussions surrounding patient outcomes and total cost of care. Further, the MSL should have experience in the appropriate exchange of scientific information related to products with boxed warnings and REMS programs in place.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain solid and credible relationships with the medical community on Bausch Health’s behalf in both Academic and Community settings, especially in Gastroenterology.
- Follow all applicable policies and procedures related to MSLs.
- Provide education relative to disease state and the Bausch Health Gastroenterology products across the product lifecycle to healthcare providers and researchers.
- Provide external expert insights and observations to the medical affairs organization on a timely basis.
- Help to ensure that external expert speakers have access to Bausch Health data.
- Be well versed in the current therapeutic areas in which Bausch Health specializes.
- Where appropriate, provide overall medical / scientific support through the dissemination of on-label educational, scientific, and clinical information on diseases and its treatment, for training purposes only.
- Responds to unsolicited requests for investigator-initiated research and supports submissions through appropriate channels.
- In response to appropriate requests, disseminate to physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals state-of-the-art on-label research and medical concepts related to the treatment and management of diseases of interest to the company.
- Responds to unsolicited requests for Medical Information through appropriate channels.
- When appropriate, represent Bausch Health at continuing educational events / programs, medical meetings and conventions.
- Provide presentations to population-based healthcare decision makers and regional payors as requested.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree, PhD, PharmD, or MD required
- Minimum 1-year MSL experience preferred.
- Prior experience as a field medical science liaison in gastroenterology and/or hepatology is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience engaging with population-based healthcare decision makers including regional payors is a plus.
- Established relationships with Gastroenterology external experts is highly desire.
- 60-70% travel required
The range of starting base pay for this role is $136K – 187K. Actual starting pay will be based on a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, qualifications, education and location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for participation in either (i) our annual bonus program or (ii) a sales incentive plan.
