The Senior Manager, R&D Strategy and Operations will play a critical role in driving strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and portfolio management across the R&D organization. This role partners closely with the Chief Medical Officer and the R&D leadership to ensure alignment of objectives, effective communication, and execution of key priorities. The ideal candidate will have experience in strategic planning, change management, and cross-functional collaboration within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Leadership team to define and manage the R&D strategic roadmap for the business and portfolio
- Manage and facilitate R&D leadership team meetings, ensuring alignment and follow-through on strategic priorities
- Lead the development and tracking of annual R&D objectives and key performance metrics for the organization
- Provide project management support to R&D business development, integration and or special projects across the leadership team
- In partnership with Finance, manages the R&D budgeting processes, including planning and forecasting
- Establish an R&D communication strategy in partnership with corporate communications; organize engagements including town halls and advisory boards
- Develop executive presentations and story boards for the CMO, to support leadership meetings, board of directors and external presentations
- Drive integrated R&D information sharing through SharePoint and other collaboration tools
- Lead change management initiatives, in partnership with HR, to support organizational transformation and continuous improvement
- May support portfolio management including governance, prioritization, and performance tracking of R&D programs in close partnership with leadership and the Portfolio management organization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences; MBA preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in managing business strategy and operations, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- Experience in project management required, PMP certification preferred
- Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency in collaboration tools such as SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience implementing and leveraging AI capabilities
- Experience in budgeting, planning, and performance management
- Ability to support management efforts and drive continuous improvement
- Hybrid work schedule, 3 days in the Bridgewater, NJ office and 2 days remote
The range of starting base pay for this role is 166K - 228K. Actual starting pay will be based on a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, qualifications, education and location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for participation in either (i) our annual bonus program or (ii) a sales incentive plan.
