Bausch Health is committed to helping patients get the medicines they need. Our Patient Assistance Program provides certain Bausch Health medicines to qualifying patients who have limited or no health insurance coverage and/or demonstrate financial need. It is free to apply, and those who qualify will receive their medicine free of charge.

The Sr Manager, Patient Assistance Programs is responsible for further developing and maintaining an industry-leading program for certain Bausch Health US prescription products. The candidate will develop strategies and implement tactics in support of the BHC Patient Assistance Program and will oversee day-to-day operations of this program.

The Sr Manager, Patient Assistance Programs is responsible for leading ongoing external benchmarking and landscape analysis to ensure BHC consistently meets the needs of our patients. They will scope, design and help build program elements and innovations that ensure patient access to BHC products. The role oversees critical third-party relationships required to deliver the assigned programs. 

 

This position will report directly to the Director, Sales Operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the BHC Patient Assistance Program, ensuring operational excellence in support of patient needs, including KPI definition & management, patient and provider troubleshooting, third-party vendor management and extensive stakeholder management.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of SOPs, business rules, work instructions and training materials related to the BHC Patient Assistance Program.
  • Ensure tight integration of program offerings with a focus on continuous improvement of PAP operational processes, systems, technology and new program offerings to deliver an optimal patient experience.
  • Contribute subject matter expertise to field and HCP inquiries and troubleshooting as requested.
  • Develop and maintain a robust reporting and performance management platform of the BHC Patient Assistance Program.
  • Coordinate with trade, forecasting, distribution and customer service teams to manage PAP forecasts and supply needs.
  • Provide input and guidance for Patient Support related collateral materials and communications.
  • Oversee program budgets for the Bausch Health Patient Assistance Program, including the review of monthly invoices and payments.
  • Maintain development and further curation of the BHC Patient Assistance Website to ensure accurate and timely information.

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required
  • A minimum of 8 years of pharmaceutical experience with a proven record of leadership in Patient Assistance and/or Patient Services
  • Demonstrated success in implementing and managing external partners including detailed process workflows, SOPs and KPIs
  • Functional knowledge of health insurance and benefits (private and public payers), with a solid understanding of the following processes: HIPAA, insurance eligibility and benefit verification, securing insurance authorizations, appealing insurance denials, and application of financial assistance for eligible patients
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturer compliance requirements and patient confidentiality (HIPAA regulations)
  • Highly knowledgeable of patient assistance programs

 

The range of starting base pay for this role is $155K – $210K. Actual starting pay will be based on a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, qualifications, education and location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for participation in either (i) our annual bonus program or (ii) a sales incentive plan.
