The Vice President, Development will lead all ongoing programs as well as evaluation of potential business development opportunities. They will create the strategic plan for all program and be responsible for executing on it. This role oversees clinical, biostatistics business development, and pre-clinical/clinical pharmacology teams. This is a key role in the R&D organization and will work closely with our regulatory, pharmacovigilance, operational and commercial leaders to ensure smooth delivery of programs on time and with high quality. This position reports to the Chief Medical Officer and Head of R&D.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements of development strategies and plans, working with internal teams throughout the lifecycle of clinical studies,
- Lead the clinical pharmacology strategy of early and late-stage drug development programs and responsible for the design, technical oversight, data analyses and interpretation of clinical pharmacology studies.
- Performs medical oversight of clinical trials, with our partnered CROs, drafts protocols and informed consent documents, and addresses queries from regulatory bodies, institutional review board, and ethics committees.
- Monitors safety and progress throughout trials, ensures adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as Business Development, Clinical Operations, Pharmacovigilance, and Regulatory Affairs, to ensure seamless execution of programs.
- Summarize key information from scientific content and clinical study reports for presentation to internal and external audiences.
- Preparation/review of related key documents (i.e. protocols, Investigator’s Brochures, clinical study reports, and submissions).
- Serve as the clinical representative on cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in a scientific discipline required
- Minimum 15 years clinical development experience required
- GI or neurology experience is a plus
- Extensive experience developing and submitting complex NDAs and BLAs is required
- Demonstrated leadership presence, with the ability to work effectively with clinical, regulatory, and scientific leaders both internally and externally
- A problem-solver and collaborative team player who actively encourages and values the contributions of others
- Strong patient focus with a passion for advancing medical treatments through the development of innovative treatments. Commitment to making a meaningful impact on patient care
- Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on transparency, clarity, and precision. Highly organized with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to convey complex scientific concepts clearly
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong internal-facing leadership and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism, maturity, and the ability to navigate complex environments
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and make informed decisions
