SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
The MSL is a field -based job position responsible for providing a variety of external and internal stakeholders with medical and scientific information on the company’s product and with more general information about their therapeutic area and disease state. Reporting to the Director, Medical Affairs, your mission will be to play a role as an MSL our Specialty products (Cardio-Metabolic and Neuropsychiatry). This field-based position will cover Western Canada provinces.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support Key Opinion Leader’s (KOL) & other regional Health Care Professionals (HCPs) understanding complex scientific/clinical concepts and product related data. This will lead to higher levels of awareness and understanding of the science behind new Bausch Health products or new indications for existing products.
- Develop strong relationships with Canadian KOLs, HCPs, researchers and professional medical organizations in their therapeutic field and relevant territories.
- Conduct regional KOL mapping and gain medical insights on current market, clinical practice, patient flow, etc.
- Facilitate clinical research activities between Bausch Health Medical and investigators for both BHC sponsored studies and Investigator Initiated trials (IITs) in accordance with the appropriate policies and SOPs.
- Conduct scientific presentations for Bausch Health products and/or disease related educational presentations.
- Collaborate with regional and head office cross-functional teams to provide support for local initiatives: educational programs, round tables, regional consult meetings, train-the-trainer, speaker tours, symposia/conferences etc.
- Plan KOLs meetings, scientific exchanges and regional consultations, ensure compliance of events, obtain required internal approvals and complete necessary documentation
- Develop & execute a medical territory plan as well as a KOL engagement plan, both aligned with the Medical strategy working with the Medical Advisor with clear timelines (adapt throughout the year as needed)
- Insight collection through one-on-one meetings, scientific exchanges and regional consultations with KOLs/HCPs, ensure documentation and analysis of those insights to support internal medical strategy
- Prepare and review slides for both external and internal use
- Be a scientific and medical resource in their territory and ensure to stay scientifically up to (review literature, etc.)
- Assist the Medical Advisor in publications, posters, and other scientific communication programs.
- Attend and cover conferences and provide post conference highlights internally and externally as needed
- Enter/document peer-2-peer exchanges & KOLs engagement in CRM
- Report potential adverse event information, events of special interest and as soon as possible but within 24 hours at the latest after becoming aware. This is applicable regardless of the severity of the event and whether or not you think it is caused by the product or not. Information should be sent as per Bausch Health Adverse Event Training & SOP
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MD, PharmD, PhD or Master (MSc) in health sciences
- Minimum of one year in MSL or related field position is preferable or 2 years in another pharmaceutical position.
- Experience with Cardio-Metabolic diseases and/or Schizophrenia is an important asset.
- Preferably Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB based.
- Competencies:
- Strong strategic thinking and networking skills with a good business acumen
- Good scientific background with excellent communication/presentation skills
- Ability to research scientific literature, and write reports, papers, and research proposals.
- Resourceful and flexible in accepting change in priorities
- Excellent team player with experience in cross-functional teams
