PURPOSE OF JOB
The Senior Buyer is an individual contributor role and will report to the Director of Indirect Procurement. They will take the leadership to execute sourcing, negotiation, and contracting activities for Canada based contracts with the potential to support other regions on an ad hoc basis based on capacity.
The primary responsibility will be to drive competition, business continuity, supplier performance, and continuous improvement in alignment with corporate and business unit strategy and financial goals.
The person will be responsible for stakeholder engagement up to the local General Manager for commercial indirect categories including but not limited to: Professional Services, Marketing & Sales, Promotions, Fleet, Meetings & Events.
The person will collaborate with the Sourcing Support Services Manager and Global Category Leads to execute sourcing initiatives and contract execution in alignment with strategies and deliver best practices.
HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR DAY
Executing contracts and procurement sourcing events in support of local business requirements or driven by the global category leads; including sourcing suppliers, running tenders, negotiating terms and conditions, and executing contracts with legal support.
- Develop local strategies and ensure the strategy and execution plan is aligned within Procurement and stakeholders.
- Execute sourcing strategy implementation and selection of suppliers
- Analyze and produce reports on supplier spend data, sourcing initiatives and targeted/achieved savings.
- Manage contract expirations, renewals, and updates.
- Identify potential opportunities and conduct Request for Proposal (RFP), Requests for Information, quotation analysis, and scope optimization.
- Stakeholder engagement with country general managers or their respective commercial teams.
- Conduct comprehensive supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, and proactively manage supplier relationships
- Manage and maintain relationship with suppliers to maximize value and continuous improvement.
- Support supplier risk and sustainability assessments and develop mitigation plan as needed.
- Support diversity and sustainability initiatives.
- Align category best practices at local levels with support of global category leads
- Support contract negotiations and management including successful execution of contracts, ensuring proper coordination with the internal legal team and managing on-going stakeholder contracting needs.
- Ensure all procurement activities align with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations.
- Liaise with Legal, Regulatory, Finance, and other functions as needed.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years of indirect services procurement experience.
- Experience in Pharma, CPG environments preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Procurement, Finance, Legal, or Business disciplines.
- Applied experience in the understanding of legal issues, contractual principles, and negotiation techniques used in the development of complex contractual agreements.
- Proven capability in proactive workload management, data analysis, exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal skills, problem solving skills, and significant experience with Excel and Powerpoint applications.
