ROLE TITLE:        MANAGER, PROCUREMENT

DEPARTMENT:  PROCUREMENT

REPORTS TO:     SENIOR MANAGER, PROCUREMNET CANADA

WORK HOURS:  8:00 am to 4:30 pm

 

Reporting to Senior Manager, Procurement Canada, your mission will be to manage sourcing, purchasing & inventory levels at Steinbach plant to meet global Procurement KPIs and manufacturing site objectives. As a participative leader, identify priorities, and recommend appropriate continuous improvement opportunities and cost reduction initiatives for Direct and Indirect procurement categories, while ensuring customer-focused service delivery. Provide direction, coaching & support to the Procurement team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Sets annual performance objectives for the entire department.
  • Determines and controls all the budgets of his department, such as budget plans, costs, quality, deadlines, and human resources management.
  • Determines the inventory and safety stock levels required to support the production plan and tracks them locally and globally. Defines strategy to optimize inventory target reductions while protecting the site against supply risk.
  • Develops and designs sourcing and purchasing strategies, including cost‑of‑production reduction through strategic vendor management to support the achievement of business goals and objectives.
  • Defines procurement cost improvement initiatives for indirect and direct procurement.
  • Supports major CAPEX projects from sourcing activities to contract negotiation along with stakeholders.
  • Manages the supplier management and evaluation program, such as tendering and negotiation activities.
  • Manages and monitors contractual commitments and disputes with suppliers.
  • Ensures the updating of standard costs and the material PPV monthly results, including projections for year‑end.
  • Manages strategic relationships with key suppliers by providing real‑time information on material availability through interfaces with the company's planning and production departments.
  • Develops mutually satisfying goals for the organization and internal customers, establishes and maintains internal customer rapport, and produces positive results in the organization.
  •  Supports and leads the global supplier relationship program at the site level.
  • Ensures training is identified and TDPs are developed and carried out for Procurement staff.
  • Ensures Procurement operations are in compliance with good manufacturing practices (cGMP) and regulatory requirements for manufacturing pharmaceutical products.
  • Ensures compliance with global sourcing policy in place and contract approval forms across the site organization.
  • Provides vision and guidance to the Procurement team in the area of occupational health, safety, and wellness.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related studies and/or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  •  CCP designation or APICS certification is recommended. 
  • Working knowledge of the associated regulations that govern the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical/ Food manufacturing environment.
  • High level of knowledge in Microsoft Office suite (Excel primarily)
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP concepts and systems (SAP Purchasing).
  • Lean/Six sigma certification is an asset
