General Responsibilities

 

Support and coordinate the execution and continuous improvement of site-wide health, safety, and environmental programs. Ensure assigned programs and activities are effectively implemented and maintained in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, internal standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Provide hands-on EHS support to all departments while driving completion and accountability for inspections, corrective actions, and key program deliverables.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate and execute workplace inspection programs, including scheduling, completing inspections, and ensuring corrective actions are tracked to completion.
  • Participate in internal and external EHS audits and support site readiness and follow-up actions for regulatory inspections.
  • Administer PPE programs (e.g., safety glasses, footwear) and ensure ongoing compliance and availability.
  • Manage the respirator fit testing program, including scheduling, recordkeeping, and compliance
  • Coordinate and maintain hearing conservation program activities, including audiometric testing, tracking, and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain ownership of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventories, and WHMIS systems.
  • Ensure calibration and readiness of safety monitoring equipment (e.g., gas detectors).
  • Conduct or support industrial hygiene monitoring (e.g., noise sampling, exposure assessments) and assist in evaluating results and required actions.
  • Deliver and coordinate EHS orientation and selected training programs (e.g., WHMIS, PPE, basic safety).
  • Support and help coordinate deliverables for Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Committee activities.
  • Participate in incident investigations and support root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
  • Track, manage, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions from inspections, audits, incidents, and meetings.
  • Enter, maintain, and ensure data accuracy in EHS management systems (e.g., Cority).
  • Compile and maintain safety statistics and KPI dashboards.
  • Partner with departments on safety improvements, including ergonomics and workplace modifications.
  • Coordinate contractor safety requirements, including onboarding and compliance with site expectations.
  • Participate in emergency response activities, evacuation planning, and drills.
  • Support development, updates, and implementation of EHS procedures and SOPs.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP and applicable regulatory requirements

 

 

Education & Experience Requirements

 

  • Diploma or degree in Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of experience in EHS, safety, or environmental roles.
  • Experience with hazardous materials management, inspections, and safety programs preferred.
  • Exposure to industrial hygiene programs (e.g., noise, respiratory protection) is an asset.

 

Technical and Professional Requirements

 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and EHS management systems (e.g., Cority).
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and Manitoba provincial regulations.
  • Understanding of WHMIS, hazard identification, investigations, 5 Why and risk assessment processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment is an asset

Total Rewards

 

The range of starting base pay for this role is 74,880- 90,600 CAD . Actual starting pay will be based on a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, qualifications, education and location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for participation in our annual bonus program.
