The Director, Business Development and Alliance will be responsible for assigned business development project, from end to end, including lead generation, evaluation, due diligence , contract negotiation and implementation.  The candidate will also oversee project progress, development and actively manages alliances.  The candidate will work closely with Head of Global Business Development, R&D and commercial teams to identify and develop new opportunities.  The ideal candidate should have both a strong technical background and proven business acumen, with a demonstrated ability to work with cross functionals team and external partners over a wide range of geographies and product lifecycle stages. 

The candidate will oversee governance of all assigned partnerships, including the facilitations of joint steering committees, the issuance of meeting minutes and follow ups on action items and issues that arise within the partnership.  The candidate should also have a strong track record of managing both external and internal stakeholders to influence action and business decision that will drive success for the alliances.

The candidate will be the “face” of Bausch Pharma to our external partners and should strive to make Bausch Pharma a “partner of choice” that will allow Bausch Pharma to further advance its strategic priorities through new business development opportunity and alliances. The candidate should demonstrate a clear ability to balance the needs of our external partners with the bandwidth of our internal teams in order to create a win-win and maximize the value of the opportunities and the alliances.



Business Development

  • Identify leads / new opportunities by working closely with Global Head of Business Development, Head of Strategy and internal team to understand requirement and growth opportunity
  • Screen potential business opportunities by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to develop market analysis, and validate assumptions critical to the underlying business strategy
  • Assess and recommend in-line products and clinical compounds and their potential in Bausch Pharma strategic therapeutic areas
  • Evaluate new opportunities , conduct financial modeling related to transactions and other quantitative analysis.
  • Lead due diligence process with strong collaboration effort with internal cross functional teams
  • Prepare business case for internal discussion and approval
  • Execute agreement and oversee implementation towards launch / integration
  • Regular and clear communication to internal stakeholders in regard to project status and progress
  • Develop and grow a productive network of external contacts and maintain excellent working relationships with industry counterparts


Alliance Management

  • Digest and summarize contractual obligations of Bausch Pharma and our partners to be able to provide functional colleagues with direction on their specific responsibilities under the agreements
  • Ensure proactive communication with partners and internal stakeholders and stay in front of potential issues.  Be the primary point of contact for our partners to allow for the most efficient distribution of information and task delegation
  • Facilitate all joint steering committee meetings and other functional meetings, as required
  • Consolidate and contribute to meeting materials and track issues and decisions that arise from partnership discussions


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, scientific master’s or MBA preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, 3+ years of experience in business development or alliance management role highly preferred
  • Strong business leadership skills, superior intellectual horsepower, a results orientation and demonstrated values driven leadership style
  • Sound understanding of pharmaceutical markets, product development cycles and underlying value creation strategies
  • Demonstrated skills in financial modeling and quantitative analysis
  • Demonstrated capabilities for writing commercial assessments and deal summaries, including developing/assessing business strategies, validating commercial assumptions, developing quantitative and qualitative support documentation and analysis, summarizing information in a concise and efficient manner and preparing effective presentations and summaries
  • Direct experience in business transactions (licensing, acquisitions, mergers, divestitures)
  • Excellent business judgment coupled with self-reliance and initiative
  • Demonstrated sound judgment regarding the management of information, including a superior level of appreciation for the sensitivity of key information and maintaining confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal, advocacy, delegation and communications skills with a strong orientation to effective teamwork
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functional disciplines
  • Excellent presentation and analytical skills; above average mastery of MS PowerPoint and Excel
