Purpose of Position:  This position is an integral part of the Global Consolidations Department supporting the monthly close and the SEC reporting process.  The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of consolidation and close functions, including financial statement preparation, equity analysis, journal entry preparation and review, and other special projects. 

 

General Functions/Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the global monthly close process to ensure reporting on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Assist with the global intercompany reconciliation process.
  • Review and enter journal entries into the consolidation system, maintaining documented analysis and support.
  • Prepare the Statement of Cashflows.
  • Review and analyze financial statements and reports.
  • Support SEC reporting process by producing supporting schedules or ad-hoc requests.
  • Prepare audit schedules and provide information to external auditors.
  • Perform analysis of Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts and coordinate with local accounting teams on resolution (if necessary) of unusual balances or variances. 
  • Participate in the monthly review of local teams’ accounting results.
  • Responsible for various global tie out and roll forward packages.
  • Streamline and identify areas of improvement for the monthly close reporting process.
  • Assist with the application of GAAP to new transactions, where applicable.
  • Special projects as needed; including, but not limited to, business transactions, acquisitions, carve-outs and Legal Entity changes.
  • Establish rapport and build cooperative, respectful working relationships with relevant internal (both business and department leaders) and external parties (Internal & External Audit).
  • As the workload demand changes for the department, additional responsibilities may be required.

 

Required Education / Skills / Abilities

    • 6+ years of Accounting/Finance experience preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required and CPA a plus.
    • Public accounting background preferred.
    • Ability to use advanced Excel spreadsheet functions and formulas.
    • Hyperion experience strongly preferred.
    • High level of attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
    • Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to implement process improvements, create efficiencies, work independently, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Demonstrates high level of maturity, self-motivation, and team-orientation.
