The Manager, IT Disaster Recovery (DR) reports into the IT Governance Risk and Compliance function and is responsible for managing and supporting the development and coordination of DR technical planning aligned with industry best practices and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Business Continuity (BC)/DR and Risk Management standards. The candidate will drive the DR testing program and advance DR solutions toward continual improvement. The candidate will manage and collaborate with various IT and non-IT functions including business application teams to gather requirements, assist in the analysis and development of DR plans, assist with the creation of DR test plans, and coordinate failover/recovery exercises in preparation of a major event. The candidate will also make certain the resiliency of the IT infrastructure, including IT data centers, can support the continuity of critical business functions.

 

Minimum 5-10 years of experience providing IT support for Event Management and DR activities including the following:

  • Entra (f.k.a Microsoft Azure) Cloud, Entra Site Recovery (ESR), Zerto, Data Guard (or other data replication software).
  • Backup/Recovery solutions, including Cohesity, Networker, Tivoli TSM, or similar backup solutions.
  • Linux, Oracle, SQL (LAN cluster design).
  • IT infrastructure components such as: server, load balancer, firewall, DNS, Active Directory, SMTP, Citrix / WVD access, backup, and server monitoring.
  • Change Management process as it relates to DR IT planning, and the ability to follow documented processes using ServiceNow CMDB management or similar platforms.
  • Experience with online BC / DR planning tools – ServiceNow Business Continuity Management (BCM) a plus.
  • Data center operations: cloud and on premises environments.
  • DR architecture design for application, network, server, database, IT Security, and storage elements.
  • Systems administration (platform-agnostic), application administration concepts, cloud hosting and recovery functions, and network administration functions.
  • Design, implement, and maintain systems that can operate continuously and reliably without significant downtime or data loss in the event of a failure or disaster.
  • Vendor hosting technologies (i.e., SaaS, DRaaS, Managed Networks, Cloud Hosting).

MUST HAVE STRONG EXPERIENCE

  • BC / DR principles, strategies, and best practices.
  • Work effectively and decisively under pressure with the ability to lead various levels of participants during an active event.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and lead DR activities in tight time frames.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying, collecting, organizing, analyzing, and reviewing technical information.
  • Performing technical analysis of all infrastructure stacks (applications, networks, servers, storage) for production and DR data centers (or cloud environments).
  • Familiarity with application interdependency concepts.
  • Experience in designing/developing Application Impact Assessments (AIA) for critical applications and analyzing computed Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) appropriately.
  • Experience with Third Party Vendor risk management for appropriate internal and external dependency assessments for DR plans.
  • Writing detailed technical DR plans and test plans and scheduling and leading technical interviews with various IT groups and subject matter experts.
  • Documentation of all elements of technical DR plans.
  • Lead and contribute to the management and maintenance of DR Plans and recovery systems that support critical applications.
  • Manage and maintain DR exercise schedule.
  • Coordinating and facilitating technical DR plan walk-throughs, tests/exercises meeting scope, objectives, business requirements including RTOs and RPOs.
  • Capture and report risks and single points of failover determined through testing and analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate after action report and resolution of issues surfaced during DR exercises.
  • Contribute to the development of post exercise executive summary report.
  • Demonstrated ability to report DR project status to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated history of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop professional reports and metrics.
  • Experience in conducting lessons learned sessions to improve upon current state of DR program.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is required. CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional) certification or equivalent a plus
