OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE OF JOB-

The Supply Planning Manager leads the Demand Planning and Supply Planning for an assigned set of product families or brands.  The Supply Planning Manager leads the Consensus Demand Forecast Process for Supply Chain and assigned Commercial Businesses. The Supply Planning Manager collects statistical demand inputs for the Consensus Demand Forecast and works with commercial to develop a consensus forecast between commercial plans and statistical forecasts.  Using the agreed Consensus Forecast as an input, the Supply Planning Manager will generate feasible supply plans and then organize the several manufacturing requirements into an optimized Net Requirements Document over a 12-to-18 month horizon while satisfying commercial, financial & manufacturing constraints.   

In delivering demand forecasts and supply plans, the Supply Planning Manager will facilitate and lead an S&OP meeting process for one or some of the five Commercial Business Units and Finance with the goals of a) improving forecast accuracy, and b) meeting commercial requirement within measured customer service targets, while c) optimizing financial performance.

 

KEY ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES-

GAP ANALYSIS ROLE

  • Analyze unit demand data for statistically meaningful trends in products of assigned businesses.
  • Run and provide unit forecasts as inputs to commercial demand forecasts. 
  • Identify unmet, exceeded & “under-met” commercial Supply Chain needs.
  • Monitor S&OP process for measured alignment with Forecast Accuracy, Customer Service Fill Rate and inventory health goals.

 

SOLUTION TOOL DEVELOPMENT ROLE

  • Participate in development of data/dashboards/prototypes of tools.

 

SOLUTION IMPLEMENTATION ROLE

  • Set and measure expected norms and cycle-events for monthly S&OP.
  • Maintain partnerships with assigned Business Unit and Supply Planners.
  • Provide detailed S&OP written minutes with action commitments and distribute to stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of baseline and demand component breakouts for all core products in each assigned business.
  • Maintain and improve corporate forecast accuracy performance measures
  • Publish Monthly Demand Forecast to Business and Supply Planners.
  • Regular key deliverables include SKU/Brand Forecast Accuracy, latest
  • quarter estimates and rolling six-quarter forecasts.
  • Create an optimum Net-Requirements Plan,
  • Within a rolling lead-time window publish the purchase orders needed to meet the Net-Requirements Plan,
  • Work with internal plants to manage and publish internal lot schedule.
  • Work with External Manufacturing to track externally made lots/products.
  • Work with commercial to ensure forecasts and Net Requirements support realistic net sales
  • Manage forecast accuracy, and net-requirements plan to minimize obsolescence, and reducing stock-outs.
  • Support a flexible and responsive culture 

 

DEVELOP STAFF CAPABILITY ROLE

  • Develop internal staff through role-modeling supply planning activities

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE-

  • Preferred, BS, preferably in mathematics, data sciences, operations research, statistics, supply chain, engineering, chemistry, life sciences or in a quantitatively demanding field OR Equivalent industry experience, with three or more years of that experience in healthcare supply chain specifically demonstrating quantitative problem-solving aptitude.
  • Preferred one to three years of pharma industry (GMP) supply chain experience, including pharma demand planning or supply planning
  • Preferred, 1-3 years of Manufacturing ERP experience with major pharma industry ERP system (Manugistics, JDE, Oracle, SAP, AX)
  • Prefer hands-on experience with statistical forecasting techniques, best-fit forecast tools, algorithms, software and practice.
  • GMP manufacturing planning/GMP supply chain experience.
  • Excellent facilitation skills, relationship skills, and communication skills
  • Prefer experience in Pharma Good Manufacturing Environment (GMP).
