Reporting to the Supervisor or Senior Manager, Procurement, the Senior Buyer is responsible for ensuring that high quality materials are available to Solta at the expected time, in the expected quantities and at the expected costs. Functional responsibilities include planning, supplier management and procurement, and cost reductions for highly complex engineered components utilizing various manufacturing technologies, subassemblies, or full assemblies from contract manufacturers and/or suppliers of quality critical items.    

 

Principle Responsibilities & Duties: 
Note: The following are meant to be representative but not necessarily all inclusive of the duties and responsibilities for this position title. 

 

Planning
•    Utilizing an updated product requirement forecast and MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) output, plans component purchases to support the manufacturing plan while maintaining optimal inventory levels. 
•    Ensures the accuracy of the vendor part-master and vendor lead-time data in the company’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.

 

Purchasing
•    Obtains quotes and negotiates with suppliers where appropriate to obtain competitive pricing for high quality components, equipment, and services to support production and engineering. 
•    Enters purchase orders in the ERP system, places orders with suppliers, and works with suppliers to ensure on-time receipts. 
•    Responsible for a higher level of spend responsibility than lower level Buyers. 

 

Supply Chain Management 
•    Evaluates supplier reliability, works with suppliers on continuous improvement activities and drives for overall best value to Solta.
•    Leads the identification and development of new supplier sources where suppliers are inadequate or when new suppliers / technologies are required. 
•    Coordinates with Quality and Finance to ensure that suppliers are reviewed, approved, and monitored on an ongoing basis consistent with FDA and ISO requirements and financial objectives. 
•    Assists in the development of a supplier rating system. 
•    Creates and maintains supply agreements with key suppliers and turnkey suppliers.
•    Conducts Supplier Business Reviews which include sharing of supplier performance data/scorecards and driving for performance improvements.
•    Initiates and leads cost improvement projects through negotiations and/or design improvements from inception to completion. 

 

Inventory Management
•    Provides input pertaining to the disposition of inventory during the MRB (Material Review Board) process. 
•    Obtains RMA’s (Return Material Authorizations) from suppliers and assists in preparing materials to be returned. Provides input pertaining to excess and obsolete material.

 

Receiving 
•    Monitors receiving activity and works with suppliers to ensure the orderly receipt of goods and services delivered to the company. 
•    Works with Quality Assurance to assure the timely flow of product through QC inspection processes as well as the appropriate disposition of non-conforming materials.

 

Budgetary/Financial
•    Assists in the development of a budget for the purchasing functional area. 
•    Responsible for monitoring and reporting of various financial metrics related to purchasing. 
•    Complete financial analysis and what if scenarios to determine viability of cost reduction projects.

 

Experience, Education, Training, Traits: 
•    Requires a minimum of an undergraduate degree preferably in a technical field, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration. 
•    Senior Buyer Planner experience – particularly in the manufacture of instrumentation and/or medical devices (5 years or more is required) including: 
•    Extensive knowledge and experience in the utilization of ERP systems and planning tools. 
•     Extensive knowledge and experience in Bill of Material structures and component specifications. 
•     Supply-chain management and supplier relationship management 
•     Purchasing skills to include obtaining quotes, negotiations and supply agreements. 
•     Purchase order entry skills, knowledge of receiving transactions and return to vendor transactions. 
•     Inventory management knowledge to include knowledge of various inventory transactions. 
•     Turnkey supplier management experience. 
•     New product introduction experience. 
•    Experience working within a rigorous quality system environment (ISO, FDA cGMP/QSR) is preferred. 
•     Strong collaboration, team building, and development skills. 
•     Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. 
•     Strong MS Office skills. 
•    Experience with ERP systems is preferred. 
•    APICS certification is preferred. 

 

As required by law, Bausch Health provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in the US. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For this role, the range of starting pay for this role is $80k - $110k.
