Senior Manager, Manufacturing and Test Engineering
This position manages the Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Test Engineering, Facilities, Calibration and Maintenance, and Maintenance of Business (MOB) functions. The role directs all aspects of the development, validation, deployment, and maintenance of manufacturing processes and tests, and maintenance of business project management processes.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop, coach, and retain a high-performance Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Test Engineering, and Project staff. Provide drive, vision, leadership, guidance, and support to all direct reports.
- Lead the Manufacturing Engineering team in all aspects of process development. Includes but is not limited to planning, process definition, process limit definition, process validation planning and execution, and process implementation.
- Lead the Manufacturing Test Engineering team in all aspects of test development. Includes but is not limited to planning, test specification, test requirement, test procedure, test software development, fixture and tool development, validation planning and execution, and test implementation.
- Lead the team in all aspects of sustaining project management. Includes but is not limited to project intake, prioritization, resourcing, deployment, execution, and status reporting.
- Establish and maintain forward looking roadmaps for manufacturing tests and processes, ensuring process capacity exceeds demand and production readiness for future products.
- Establish and maintain MOB process and procedure including but not limited to project intake, prioritization, resourcing, deployment, execution, and status reporting.
- Support the monitoring of manufacturing performance (first pass yield, manufacturing Pareto, etc.) to ensure manufacturing goals and milestones are achievable. Support root cause failure analysis.
- Provide equipment, process, tooling, and technical support required to meet the production schedule.
- Work to continuously improve both internal quality performance (yield) and external quality performance (complaints or issues rate).
- Develop and resolve CAPA’s and CAR’s for production and field related technical problems.
- Work effectively within a cross-functional product development team, supporting the definition of new medical products. Oversee process and test development, manufacturing transfer, and production readiness schedules with Program Management.
- Establish design for manufacturability and testability guidelines and convey them to the product development team.
- Provide project structure, visual management, andoversight to ensure team deliverables are in place to support budgets and schedules.
- Support the definition and development of test data storage and archiving processes.
- Oversee the development and deployment of process and test related SOPs, and systems to help ensure they are followed.
- Support a world class manufacturing operation through lean implementation and ability to lead improvement techniques via kaizen and kaizen events.
- Develop effective Goal and Objective planning for all direct reports with concise metrics.
Experience, Education, Training and Traits:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and 3 years background in a technical team leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience with lean techniques and principles.
- PMP certification highly desirable.
- Demonstrated use of 6-Sigma skills and DOE skills highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in process development and manufacturing test development for capital equipment.
- Experience in a medical device manufacturing a plus.
- Working knowledge of medical device FDA QSR’s and ISO13485 requirements.
- Background in diagnostic or therapeutic ultrasound a plus.
- A self-motivated and results-oriented individual.
- Strong project management skills.
- Hands on and team oriented.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering specifications, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, specifications, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to clearly and concisely convey project accomplishments, obstacles, issues, and status to project team members.
Math Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to use MS Excel to perform calculations and interpret project results/data.
Reading Skills
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to read regulatory, technical and clinical literature and documents and extract important concepts.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to perform lifting tasks of up to 20 pounds for short durations. Duties of this job may involve standing and/or walking for extended periods of time. Duties also involve daily keyboard data entry. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment
The work environment is office and light manufacturing. Noise levels are usually moderate.

As required by law, Bausch Health provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in the US. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For this role, the range of starting pay for this role is $165k - $190k.
