This position is an individual contributor role who will lead EHS&S programs to achieve local, state, and EHS&S corporate objectives. This position is a professional who participates on high-caliber, multi-functional teams to address and provide solutions for EHS&S issues, specifically focused on industrial hygiene, general occupational safety, and laboratory safety. This position will partner with site customers to develop and implement strategic plans to ensure the attainment of the company's goals relative to environmental health, safety, and sustainability outcomes. This position must demonstrate a broad knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, and have the ability to work effectively with internal customers within R&D, Supply Chain business units, embedded contractors and external agencies such as Cal/OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA), and City of Petaluma.
The EHS&S Manager will work with company business partners in R&D and manufacturing to develop strategic plans related to exposure sampling while providing direct support to ongoing site expansion projects. They will update management to ensure attainment of company's goals relative to regulatory and EHS&S mandates. This position will drive, support, and report progress against these strategies and goals.
This position will manage hazardous materials and waste compliance programs; perform surveys to determine program effectiveness; and responds to health and safety emergencies. They will be responsible for annual submission of Compliance, Monitoring and Enforcement (CME) data into CERS.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - (responsibilities include but are not limited to):
- Develop and implement operational procedures to ensure alignment and compliance with safety, environmental regulatory, and corporate EHS&S standards.
- Develop, implement, and provide support for key technical EHS&S programs (such as risk assessment, exposure risk assessment, chemical management, hazard communication, chemical hygiene, hearing conservation, ergonomic assessments, contractor safety, etc.) to eliminate workplace hazards.
- Develop and implement a site safety and industrial hygiene Corrective and Preventive Action Plan to ensure EHS&S regulatory compliance. Perform routine EHS&S industrial hygiene (i.e., chemical, biological, etc.) risk assessments and inspections.
- Compile and report monthly, quarterly, and annual EHS&S metrics utilizing Cority Corporate Dashboard.
- Develop and provide training to associates and partners in general safety practices and industrial hygiene programs.
- Recommend corrective actions and collaborate with key customers to implement corrective measures.
- Develop EHS&S objectives for assigned programs - auditing, analyzing, documenting, and reporting on their implementation and efficiency to management via dashboards & reports.
- Develop, administer, and implement environmental, health, and safety programs in accordance with governmental requirements.
- Manage the Hazardous Waste Program to include the safe handling, storage, disposal, and transport, of chemical and radioactive material.
- Manage and work with outside vendors to develop chemical profiles.
- Conduct inspections to ensure workers are operating in compliance with environmental and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain current knowledge of hazardous waste regulations and guidelines and oversees applicable training.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in EHS&S is required, preferably with some years’ experience in a laboratory environment.
- EHS&S facility/site audit experience is preferred.
- EHS&S credentials such as but not limited to 1) CHMM 2) CIH 3) CSP 4) CSHO or equivalent are preferred.
- Familiarity with external environmental rules and regulations as applicable to a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with local and state environmental regulations within the state of California
- Ability to interact and build relationships with people at all levels and communicate sensitive and complicated issues seamlessly to a diverse worker population.
- Demonstrated comprehension of Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures related to Facilities and Equipment to enable application of EHS&S principles.
- Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering is required.
As required by law, Bausch Health provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in the US. Actual compensation is influenced by many factors including skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For this role, the range of starting pay for this role is $105k - $135k.
